[Coffee Shop Talks] Best & Worst Reads of 2015!

I didn't read many books in 2015 that I thought were worthy of 5 star ratings, but there were 3 that I would give a solid 10 stars to if I could ;-) It's no secret that I'm obsessed with the Charley Davidson series and have loved every novel and novella Darynda has written. Eighth Grave was no exception and after that crazy twist at the end, I'm even more anxious to get my hands on book 9.

I was also a big fan of the first installment in the Blackthorn & Grim series and was so glad that not only did Tower of Thorns not suffer from the dreaded Second Book Syndrome, but it far exceeded my expectations.

My favorite debut novel in a series was Bickle's Dark Alchemy. I adored Petra, loved the setting, was fascinated by the Hanged Men, and didn't want it to end.

All 3 of these books were amazing.

I was very excited when I first read the synopsis for The Dangerous Type. Even the first paragraph sounded perfect to me.

"Set in the wake of a galaxy-wide war and the destruction of a human empire, The Dangerous Type follows the awakening of one of the galaxy's most dangerous assassins and her quest for vengeance. Entombed for twenty years, Raena has been found and released."

Sadly, this story turned out to be a mess. The characters, the relationships, the story all went terribly wrong and I can't believe that I was even able to make it through the whole novel. This was easily my most disappointing read of 2015.

Which books were your best and worst of 2015?

I'm a huge fan of Charley Davidson as well. I'm really excited for Ninth Grave. I haven't read the other books on the best of. I'll have to check them out. You can check out my top 10 favorites here:

I didn't have many worst of. I was really disappointed with The Shadows by J.R. Ward. I haven't been happy with the last few books. I might be done with the series. I'm not 100% sure. I also DNF Dead Ice by Laurell K Hamilton. I know I'm ready to quit this series. I listened to half the book and the whole thing was about managing her love life.

Yikes, I really hated it when the blurb seemed so promising but the actual story was nothing but disappointment. I haven't read any of Charley Davidson stories, but they seemed really interesting! Thanks for sharing :)

Hmm. This is a tough question as there are many amazing reads I've come across this year. I always run out of time at the end of year to do lists though. Thanks for sharing a few of yours. :)
