The hilarious new YA from acclaimed author Tina Connolly.
Camellia's adopted mother wants Cam to grow up to be just like her. Problem is, Mom's a seriously wicked witch.
Cam's used to stopping the witch's crazy schemes for world domination. But when the witch summons a demon, he gets loose--and into Devon, the cute new boy at school.
Suddenly Cam's got bigger problems than passing Algebra. Her friends are getting zombiefied. Their dragon is tired of hiding in the RV garage. For being a shy boy-band boy, Devon is sure kissing a bunch of girls. And a phoenix hidden in the school is going to explode on the night of the Halloween Dance.
To stop the demon before he destroys Devon's soul, Cam might have to try a spell of her own. But if she's willing to work spells like the witch...will that mean she's wicked too?
This was such a fun story! I needed a light, quirky read that would make me smile. Seriously Wicked hit the spot.
Although I was already a fan of Connolly's adult fantasy series, I knew this didn't guarantee that I would love her new YA novel. I've been disappointed by some of my favorite authors this way before. But I'm happy to say that Connolly nailed this and I will definitely continue following her no matter what she writes.
I adored the main character, Camellia, but I can honestly say that I enjoyed the entire cast of characters, including the evil witch and Cam's demon-possessed crush.
The story line was original, well-paced, and the way it all ended left me feeling satisfied. The twist wasn't much of a surprise, but this didn't diminish my enjoyment of the story in any way.
While I'm typically a fan of darker, more mature stories, I need a light, fun read every now and then. If you do too, then I would highly recommend giving Seriously Wicked a try. Connolly is a talented writer and the fantasy genre is lucky to have her.
