[Coffee Shop Talks] Trends I'd Like to See More Of!

I would love to see more female authors writing science fiction novels with kickass heroines. I really enjoy reading about travels through space, descriptions of strange new planets, and battles with aliens.  I just can't ever seem to find enough books like this written by female authors. I would love it if more of my favorite writers would give science fiction a try.

Now that you point that out, it's true female authors tend to write more romance than any other genre.

Sci fi doesn't have all that many female authors does it? Sci fi was a staple when I was growing up and I still enjoy the occasional trip to a new world. But the heroine has got to be kick ass!

I can never get into sci-fi and aliens etc., flies over my head! I agree with the badass heroines though also id like to read more hunk-lit a la Tangled. I love romcom written in the male POV

In my opinion, in most old school Sci Fi/Fantasy there is a higher ratio of females being more badass. Anne McCaffrey excelled at it, so did Jennifer Roberson, Barbara Hambley, Madeline L'Engle, and Tamora Pierce just to few that I have read. It's what drew me to the SciFi/Fantasy genres.
