[Coffee Shop Talks] What Groups or Clubs Do You Belong To?

What groups/clubs/etc do you belong to?

Surprisingly, I'm not a member of any book clubs. Not online or in real life. I've actually never even tried finding any book-related groups or clubs. I'm not even a part of a street team. I should probably change that soon..

The only group I belong to is an animal rescue group, Last Chance Pet Rescue, Inc. I'm a foster, volunteer, and manage their Facebook page.

We had an adoption event over the weekend that went amazingly well. We had 7 adoptions and met a lot of really nice people.

So what about you? Are there any groups or clubs that you belong to?

I don't belong to any bookish clubs or groups either. I live in a really small town, so finding peeps with similar reading interests isn't easy, and ones with free time to hang out is even more difficult. I am a member of a couple of Street Teams though. I do follow a couple of GoodReads groups, but rarely participate because blogging is such a huge time suck. I love that your a pet foster volunteer!

I don't belong to any groups. I think it's great you're part of a rescue group. It just so happens that I just contacted a rescue group about a dog I saw posted on Petfinder. I'm a little nervous about it. I don't know what to expect from a rescue. Never done that before. Any tips/suggestions?

I have several Goodreads groups I occasionally participate in, but I'm mainly only willing to get a book for that if it's really cheap or I already own it. I used to belong to a rescue group like you, but unfortunately in my new area there are only kill shelters or foster-based shelters, which are great, but I get so attached to animals that it wouldn't be an option.

You're such a rockstar! I love your group..I wish I was more active in 'real life' activities that actually had a cause!

I just became a member of a small goodreads group. So far I'm enjoying it and reading along with the book they're reading, but I don't know if I will do it with everyone. I'm not going to read a book I don't think I would like at all.
It's amazing that you are part of an animal rescue group! It's so sad that so many pets don't have a good home...

Oh look at the puppies!

As for clubs, I use to belong to the online Barnes & Nobles forums. But they took those down. I don't really do online clubs much (not even Goodreads) as I just don't have the time with life and trying to get my reading and writing done.

Carmel - Yep, I understand. I'm in a small town too.

Maris - Ask lots of questions, even if you think they're not important. And make sure that they will take him/her back if it doesn't work out (most rescues do). You always hope for the best, but you never know what could happen. Good luck!

Litha - I've gotten attached to plenty of my fosters, but I haven't adopted any (yet). 2 is enough for me =)

Danielle - Why yes, I am a rockstar. Thank you =) If you really dig in to it, I'm sure you can find something to do that you'd love.

Bregje - I used to be much more active in Goodreads and met a lot of great reading buddies. I would love to find the time to do that again.

Melissa - I didn't even know B&N had forums, but I guess that's because I don't visit their site much. Yes, reading and writing is time consuming enough.
