[Coffee Shop Talks] My OCD Bookish Habits!

My OCD bookish habits -
(Do you religiously bookmark your books?
Refuse to read more than one book at a time?)

Not knowing how to pronounce a name or city or not being 100% certain of a word's definition will have me snatching up my dictionary or running to my computer and pulling up Google. It disrupts the flow of the story, but I can't continue until I'm satisfied that I'm reading everything correctly. Of course, that doesn't always work out because sometimes the authors have created completely original worlds and there are no references to help me with some of the names they come up with, but I can't go back to the story until I've at least given it a try. What about you? Do you have any OCD habits when it comes to reading?

One thing I do when I can't pronounce a name or if I don't like the characters name, I make up my own name. Sometimes I end up forgetting the real name so when I review the book, I have to go and look what the real name is. I think that's as OCD as I get when it comes to books.

I didn't even think of that one. Now if it's a word I don't know, I'll usually look it up, but names...not so much. I try to give them my best shot, but I'm bad at names in general so I just go with what I think it says and then if I hear it the correct way I try to start pronouncing it that way...it doesn't always work though LOL :)

too funny I didnt even think of this, lol
Though I'm almost the opposite especially with names. If I cant really pronounce a name I basically make one up thats close and replace it for the character as I read lol
