[Coffee Shop Talks] Books & Music - Songs That Fit Your Favorite Stories!

And here's another song that reminds me (Jamie) of Downside Ghosts
Originally sung by The Stooges, I prefer the excellent
Uncle Tupleo cover, sung by Jeff Tweedy.

Some of you may know my obsession interest in the Jax-March relationship.  In my opinion, there are few characters that belong together more than these two.  They were kept apart for various reasons. They both made mistakes and felt that they answered to a higher cause than one another. I just kept thinking how lonely these two much be without each other and this song was perfect for their loneliness. This is a Drive by Truckers song written and performed by former Trucker, Jason Isbell.

I could take a Greyhound home but when I got there it'd be gone
along with everything a home is made up of.
So I'll take two of what you're having and I'll take all of what you got
to kill this goddamn lonely, goddamn lonely love.

This is a story about two very damaged and hard living rockers.  They have a past, even if one of them doesn't remember it, and are both stubborn as the day is long.  This is an angsty, awesome and dysfunctional love story. So of course, Maroon 5's One More Night was the only song I could think of while I was reading these books.

You and I go hard at each other like we're going to war.
You and I go rough, we keep throwing things and slamming the door.
You and I get so damn dysfunctional, we stopped keeping score.
You and I get sick, yeah, I know that we can't do this no more.
