Book Buzz [2]

Welcome to our new feature, where we'll talk about the books we've received for review, the books we've borrowed and bought, and books that we learned about from other blogs. We might also sneak in some posts we read that we feel are worth spreading around the blogosphere.

A British charity for domestic abuse (Wearside Women in Need) plan
a mass burning of E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey", claiming the
book is "dangerous" and encourages violence against women.

Buying Book Reviews
"In the fall of 2010, Mr. Rutherford started a Web site, GettingBookReviews.com. At first, he advertised that he would review a book for $99. But some clients wanted a chorus proclaiming their excellence. So, for $499, Mr. Rutherford would do 20 online reviews. A few people needed a whole orchestra. For $999, he would do 50."

It's hard to believe that people still actually burn books. WTF!

P.S. I can't wait to read The Shattered Dark!

What year is this? Burning books? Just don't read it if you don't agree with it. Can we burn people that we don't agree with?

I see some books on here that I loved.

Avoiding Commitment was good. I hated almost everyone but still liked the book a lot. Talk about MAJOR angst, it had my stomach in knots the whole time.

I loved Slammed. It's one of the few books that literally had me crying so much that I had to stop and take a break to calm myself down.

Double Time was awesome. I love that series and I was very disappointed that the publisher decided to release this book out of order but either way the book was great.

Lastly...book burning? Are you serious? OK, I understand standing up for what they believe in but burning books for real? Don't they know it'll bring more attention to the books instead of steering people away from it. And will they be purchasing the 50 books and then burning them. Do they not understand that they'll only increase the sale of the books. I just don't get some folks.
