Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine
that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
It's been almost 2 months since I've shared a WoW,
so I have some catching up to do.
First on my list is the sequel to the fantastic YA debut, Daughter of Smoke & Bone. I was excited to see this cover reveal and love it even more than the first one.
In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Karou must come to terms with who and what she is, and how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, mysteries and secrets, new characters and old favorites, Days of Blood and Starlight brings the richness, color and intensity of the first book to a brand new canvas.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone was declared a "must read" by Entertainment Weekly, was named a Best Book of the Year by Amazon.com, and The New York Times called it "a breath-catching romantic fantasy." (November 6, 2012)
My second pick is a new series by Gena Showalter. I haven't read any of her novels yet, but she has a great reputation as a paranormal romance author and with a cover like that, how could I resist?
A twisted menagerie exists, and otherworlders are the main attraction. Any time this zoo is about to be shut down, it vanishes and reappears somewhere else. When Solo’s latest mission is compromised, he wakes up in a cage, the newest “animal” on display. Vika is his new handler as well as the zoo owner’s daughter, and she’s been tasked with Solo’s care and feeding. They are supposed to be enemies, but they become lovers—until his feelings for her are used against him, and he’s put to the ultimate test. (November 27, 2012)
My last pick is also my most anticipated. Williams blew me away with her debut, The Shadow Reader, and I'm expecting more of the same with the sequel, The Shattered Dark.
McKenzie was a normal college student, save for one little twist: she’s a shadow reader, someone who can both see the fae and track their movements between our world and the Realm. It’s a gift for which she has been called insane, one for which she has risked family and friends—and one that has now plunged her into a brutal civil war among the fae. With the reign of the king and his vicious general at an end, McKenzie hoped to live a more normal life while exploring her new relationship with Aren, the rebel fae who has captured her heart. But when her best friend, Paige, disappears McKenzie knows her wish is, for now, just a dream. McKenzie is the only one who can rescue her friend, but if she’s not careful, her decisions could cost the lives of everyone she’s tried so hard to save. (October 30, 2012)
