Changeless (Parasol Protectorate #2) - Gail Carriger

Alexia Tarabotti, the Lady Woolsey, awakens in the wee hours of the mid-afternoon to find her husband, who should be decently asleep like any normal werewolf, yelling at the top of his lungs. Then he disappears - leaving her to deal with a regiment of supernatural soldiers encamped on her doorstep, a plethora of exorcised ghosts, and an angry Queen Victoria.

But Alexia is armed with her trusty parasol, the latest fashions, and an arsenal of biting civility. Even when her investigations take her to Scotland, the backwater of ugly waistcoats, she is prepared: upending werewolf pack dynamics as only the soulless can.

She might even find time to track down her wayward husband, if she feels like it.

Highly addictive and delightfully entertaining series.

You won't just "like" or "enjoy" Alexia, those words are too mundane for such an extraordinary character. She's one of the more memorable protagonists that you easily fall in love with. She's clever, charming, with a wicked sense of humor and despite taking an alpha werewolf as a husband, she is still admirably strong and independent.

I absolutely adore Carriger's writing style. The witty banter between the characters is highly amusing and a large part of what makes these stories so enjoyable. She also does a fantastic job of creating mysteries. Not one time did this story lose my interest. It was quickly devoured and I immediately picked up the next one.

There are many new developments in this sequel and I enjoyed the time spent with Alexia and Conall, as well as the time we spend visiting the fantastic secondary characters that we are first introduced to in Soulless. There also seemed to be more steampunk elements present in this installment, which was also a plus for me.

I highly recommend this series to...well, everyone.

It's only fair I warn you that the ending is shocking, exciting, and full of drama. You'll be sorry if you don't have Blameless waiting nearby
once it's over.
